HARE PIRIPI The funeral of the late ITar-j Piripi, a very esteemed member of the Ngatiwhakane tribe, who died jast week, took place at Ohinemutu on Sunday. He was one of the oldest of the Arawa tribe to enlist for service in the Great War. He had a great influence on tho younger members of the Pioneer Battalion, and was much esteemed by his officers and by all with whom he came in contact. The returned soldiers turned out in strength, some 150 being on parade. The bearers were members of his former company. Despite the very inclement weather, there were between 400 and 500 present at the graveside. MR. OLIVER R. FARRER Cabled advice was received in Ham - ilton to-day of the death of Mr. Oliver R. Farrer, a well-known Hamilton man. who was visiting England with his wife. He was a civil engineer by profession, and a member of the Borough Council. He was keenly interested in the work of the Anglican Church, and was a member of the chapter of St. Peter’s Cathedral. •re leaves three young daughters.
