MOUNT EDEN SCHOOL
LIBRARIES ESTABLISHED A bequest of £IOO by the late Mr. J. M. Johnstone to which funds raised by_ the school committee has been added, has resulted in class libraries being established at the Mount Eden primary school. The 600 books which have been purchased have been selected by the various class teachers and cover a wide range of subjects suitable for children of all ages. It is also proposed to establish a reference library for use of pupils during school hours. With the aid of the Education Department’s subsidy on funds raised by schools, the committee has secured a piano which is used to assist in the teaching of singing. The school also possesses two gramophones, which are in constant use, new records being obtained with the proceeds of school entertainments.
