DRAMA OVER THE ETHER

WIRELESS AND TELEVISION WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) NEW YORK, Tuesday. Officials of the General Electric Company at Schenectady. New York State, to-day gave a demonstration of a perfectly synchronised simultaneous broadcast of a dramatic performance by wireless and television. The experiment occupied 40 minutes and was conducted between two rooms in the same building. The pictures broadcast were nine square inches in size. Sometimes they were blurred and confused. However, the voices and actions of the performers were transmitted in a natural manner. It will be a long time before this form of entertainment will be ready for practical use, but the engineers of the company predict that in the future there will be television theatres in many places which will receive simultaneously a single performance being given at one distant spot.
