PERSONAL. —Mr. J. D. Lundie, chief officer of the Kaponga, has been transferred to the Wahine in a similar capacity. Mr. E. J. Deed, second officer of the Manuka, and Mr. J. S. Beaton, second officer of the Wahine, have exchanged ships at Wellington. Mr. W. Hendelson has joined the Kaponga as chief officer. Mr. A. B. Henderson, who has been on holidays at Lyttelton, is joining the Katoa as chief officer, relieving Mr. G. W. Kent for his holidays. Mr. B. F. Fisher has relieved Mr. P. E. Ryan as chief officer of the Opihi. The latter has been granted his holidays. KAITOKE TO PAY OFF.—The Kaitoke is due from Newcastle this afternoon. On arrival the crew is to be paid off. THE KANNA.—From Walpole Island, via Noumea, the Kanna is due at New Plymouth to-morrow. She has a full cargo of guano for discharge at New Plymouth, Timaru and Dunedin. TOFUA AT SUVA.—Cable advice received by the local office of the Union Company states that the Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva at 1 p.m. yesterday from Auckland. CATHAY AT FREMANTLE.—The P. and O. liner Cathay is reported to have reached Fremantle from London yesterday. After calling at Adelaide and Melboumie, she is due at Sydney on September 20. SOUTHERN CROSS TO SAII The Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross was to move from Western Wharf to Queen’s Wharf at 11 a.m. to-day to complete refitting and taking on stores. She is to sail on Tuesday next for the mission stations of the South-west Pacific.

THE CANADIAN WINNER. Cabled advice has been received by the Canadian National Steamships that the Canadian Winner sailed from Sydney (C. 8.) on September 6 with general cargo to discharge at Auckland and Wellington only. She is due at Auckland about October 15.

LABURNUM AND VERONICA.— H.M.S. Laburnum, now. cruising in the Fijian Group, is scheduled to leave Suva on October 15, and to reach Auckland on October 20. H.M.S. Veronica is also in the Fijian Group, but the date of her return to Auckland has not been announced.

RUAHINE CLEARED MADEIRA.— The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Ruahine is reported to have cleared Madeira last Monday in continuation of her voyage from London and Southampton. In addition *o passengers and mail for New Zealand the vessel lias general merchandise for discharge at Wellington and Lyttelton. She Is due at Wellington .on October 10. LIONEL LEFT GALVESTON—According to cable advice, the Norwegian motorship Lionel was despatched from Galveston, Texas, last Monday, with a full cargo of sulphur for discharge at Auckland, New Plymouth, Adelaide, and Port Lincoln. She is due at Auckland about October 22, and will put out the local portion of her cargo to the agency of Messrs. Robert Millar and Co. OLIVEBANK DUE NOVEMBER I. The. Finnish four-masted barque Olivebank will not reach Auckland for a long time yet, according to cable advice received in Auckland yesterday. The advice states that the vessel sailed from St: Pierre, Seychelles, last Monday, and consequently she will not reach Auckland until the end of November. Previous advice via Sj'dney stated that she sailed on June 2S. The vesesl is bringing about 4.000 tons of phosphates, all for Auckland. The voyage is expected to occupy about 75 days. * A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., are the' local agents.

REMUERA SAILS TO-MORROW. — Taking passengers, mails and cargo the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera leaves Auckland at noon tomorrow for Southampton and London, via Panama.

TEKOA AT NEW YORK. A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Tekoa arrived at New York last Saturday from Auckland, en route to London. The vessel left Auckland on August 10. MONTREAL TO AUCKLAND. According to a cable message received by the Canadian National Steamships, the Canadian Explorer sailed from Montreal last Saturday with general cargo to discharge at Auckland and Australian ports. She is due at Auckland on October 18. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER. — Cabled news has been received by the Canadian National Steamships that the Canadian Highlander arrived at New York on Friday from Auckland, and sailed again on Sunday for Boston and Montreal. The vessel left Auckland on August 1. WAIPAHI SAILING.—At 4 o’clock this afternoon the Union Company’s Island fruit steamer Waipahi leaves Auckland for Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Aitu, Mauke and Mangaia. On return to this port the vessel will then proceed to Suva to load in place of the Tofua, which goes under overhaul and survey. WAIRUNA DUE SATURDAY.—Due at Auckland noon on Saturday from the Pacific Coast, the Union Company’s Wairuna later proceeds to Napier, thence Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth to complete her discharge. From the Taranaki port the vessel returns to Auckland to load for Apia, Samoa, Fanning Island and Vancouver. NEW MOTOR-SHIP KARAMEA.— Starting on her maiden voyage, the Shaw, Savill and Albion-Company’s new motor-ship Karamea was to leave London for Auckland and Wellington yesterday. She is a sister-ship to the company’s new motor-ships Zealandic, Taranaki and Coptic. Her arrival at Auckland is scheduled for October 17. DEVON REPORTS.—A radio message received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Federal steamer Devon is expected to arrive at Auckland next Tuesday fore-: noon from Liverpool with West of England cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth. BARON INCHCAPE REPORTED.— The steamer Baron Inchcape is reported to have reached Colon last Monday, en route from Montreal and Sydney (Cape Breton), to New Zealand. The vessel is running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company’s Eastern Canadian service, and is bringing general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. PASSENGERS FOR AMERICA. The Royal Mail liner Makura left Wellington on Saturday evening in continuation of her voyage from Sydney to Rai*otonga, Papeete and San Francisco. The Rarawa sails from Onehunga at half past three this afternoon for New Plymouth. The Hauturu is to be dispatched from Onehunga at four o’clock to-morrow afternoon for Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato.
