LYRIC AND EMBASSY

NEW PROGRAMME TO-MORROW “The Silver Slave,” the enjoyable society drama, starring Irene Rich, will be shown for the last time at the Lyric and Embassy Theatres this evening. Commencing to-morrow, there will be shown at these theatres “The Play Girl,” a romance of a girl, who had to make her choice between luxury and a husband. Madge Bellamy has the leading role The story deals with the life of a little shop girl tired of work and hungry for beautiful clothes a.nd amusement. Not an uncommon failing, and for that reason an ideal theme for a photo-drama. But instead of the usual tragic, sordid picture this theme usually calls forth, the director, has hade it a happy romance of youth, starred with laughter. In the opening sequences Miss Bellamy is shown losing her position as a salesgirl because she exercises her ready wit on her choleric employer, something that has led to disaster in real life more than it has in pictures. Out of a job, she meets a man-about-town who invites her to one of his parties, where she meets another man of an entirely different type. Very soon she must make her choice betwen riding in limousine? and taking strolls through the park. The second attraction to-morrow will be “Blighty,” not a war story, but a picture of the lives of the people left behind. Ellaline Terris, the wellknown English stage actress, and Lilian ? .all-Davis play the leading roles.
