FRENCH AIR DISASTER

HURRIED TAKE-OFF MADE WHERE THE PILOT ERRED (United, P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) Times Cable. LONDON, Sunday. The Paris correspondent of “ The Times ” says that an inquiry into the Tout disaster on September 2 reveals that M. Bokanowski, Minister of Commerce, arrived at the airdrome later than expected, and that he was eager to reach his destination. Accordingly the pilot, Hanin, was ordered to leave without warming up the engine. Experts express the opinion that when Hanin discovered that the engine was not working properly, instead of making a forced landing in the direction in which he was then flying, and taking the minor risk of a collision with a tree or other obstacle, he made the fatal mistake of attempting to return to the airdrome, which was impossible at the law speed attained. M. Bokanowski, the pilot, and three other persons, were burned to death in the tragedy.
