WILL TRY AGAIN.—The Duchess of Bedford, who accompanied Captain Barnard part of the way on his flight to India, has arrived back in London. She flew from Paris in a Moth. She says she may make another attempt to make a record flight to India.—A. and N.Z.-P.A. SWIMMERS FAIL.-—Two swimmers, E. H. Temme and H. Carey, yesterday failed to swim from Dover to Calais, for which feat the Dover gold cup has been offered t as a prize. Temme was in the water eight hours and Carey 14 hours. E. H. Temme is a London clerk. Last year he swam the Channel in 14h. 29m. —A. and N.Z.P.A. SEEKS AIR RECORD.—Squadron-

Leader J. N. Oakes, a British air pilot, intends to attempt to capture the endurance record held by a German. In the event of his success he will start on a non-stop flight from Capetown to England in an effort to beat the Rome-Brazil flight of the Italians, Ferranin and del Prete. Oakes will use the new Fairey-Napier monoplane recently constructed in secret.—A. and N.ZL-P.A.
