EVERYBODY’S

“13 WASHINGTON SQUARE” Jean Hersholt portrays a suave, mild mannered, oil-painting thief in “13 Washington Square,” the Universal mystery-comedy which is now at the Everybody’s Theatre, and creating roars of laughter every evening. The story tells of a society woman who, suspecting her son Jack will elope, waits for him at 13 Washington Square. The picture thief Pyecroft appears first intending to rob the house. He locks the women up and then Jack and his financee, when they show up later. Pyecroft helps Mrs. De Peyster frustrate the marriage and she permits him to escape after she has been released by her maid. Finally the police arrest Pyecroft as he attempts to leave. Mrs. De Peyster bids them release him and then gives the children her blessing. But before everything is straightened out all sorts of mysterious happenings in the old haunted house give the audience thrills and laughs. The second attraction is a great comedy-drama of a lovable, but simple college yoLith. It is entitled “The Poor Nut” and the leading role is taken by Jack Mulhall, while Charlie Murray is in the supporting cast.
