LYRIC
“THE SILVER SLAVE” “The Silver Slave,” starring Irene Rich, is now being shown at the Lyric Theatre. This is a comedydrama of modern life, a romance portraying the conflict between a mother and daughter in the affairs of the heart. It was only after her mother had won away from her all suitors of money and years, that the chagrined daughter discovered that her mother had done it with the sole idea of saving her from becoming another “silver slave.” Irene Rich has never been so wist- ’ fully appealing as in t%is play, and the daughter is played by the beautiful Audrey Ferris, one of the younger Hollywood finds. The cast includes Holmes Herbert as the banished lover of the mother’s youth, and John Miljan who plays a rich young man-about-town, who is amazed to find that the older woman’s love is fictitious, Carrol Nye acts delightfully as the young lover, who finally wins the flapper. “The Sea Urchin” a delightful picture starring the popular English actress Betty Balfour heads the supporting programme.
