WEDDING BELLS
McMIKEN—FRASER
A wedding of much local interest took place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Claudelands, on Wednesday morning, when Phyllis May, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Fraser, of Rukuhia, was married to Dr. John McMiken, second son of Mr. and the late Mrs. John McMiken, of Hukunui Road, Claudelands. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. G. Gilbert. The bride was wearing a lovely frock of ivory embossed georgette and silver tissue, over which her embroidered tulle veil fell from its coronet of orange blossoms. Her shower bouquet, was of freezias, carnations, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Her sister. Miss Alma Fraser, was chief bridesmaid. Her frock of primrose crepe de chine was finely pleated. Miss Helen McMiken, the other bridesmaiid, was in shell pink taffeta. Both wore picture hats and carried beautiful bouquets of carnations and freezias. Betty McMiken, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl and wore phlox pink crepe de chine. > Mr. Douglas McMiken, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. F. Fraser, the bride’s brother, was groomsman. After the ceremony Mrs. John Fraser received about 80 guests at the Wattle Tearooms, where the wedding breakfast was held. Mrs. Fraser was in a chic henna suit, with smart biege hat. Later Dr. and Mrs. McMiken left by car on their honeymoon, Mrs. McMiken wearing a tweed tailleur and peach pink hat. Their future home will be in Whakatane.
