UNIVERSITY WOMEN
REUNION HELD Over forty members of the Auckland | Association of the Federation of Uni- \ versity Women were present at a ' meeting, held on Saturday afternoon, j at the home of Mrs. Talbot, in Remucra oa< L Several members who were visiting Auckland, took the opportunity of renewing old friendships. The guests were welcomed by Mrs. Talbot and by Mrs. Mulgan, the president of the club. The afternoon passed very pleasantly in conversation, and Miss Hansard sang some delightful songs. Several selections from “When We Were "Very Young” were received with marked appreciation. Toward the close of the afternoon Mrs. Mulgan thanked Mrs. Talbot for her hospitality. Mrs. Mulgan said it was hoped that D.r. Margaret Knight would represent New Zealand at the conference of the International Federation to be held shortly in Madrid. She then read an interesting letter from one of the members of the Auckland Association who is travelling at present. The following is a quotation:—"l received an invitation to a party to be held at Crosby Hall. It was given b the Warden and the Hospitality Committee to welcome Dr. Ellen Gleditsh, the world president and the British president. “I went up to London on Friday afternoon, in order to attend it in the evening. I did not know a single soul there. I told one of the members of the committee I was a stranger, and m five minutes I was chatting quite happily to an Australian, a Canadian, a South African and a Britisn graduate. The hospitality committee all wore blue rosettes and the graduates staying in the hall a gold rosette. The Warden asked graduates to stand when the name of their country was called. There were about six Indians, one Chinese, one Bu.rman, one Icelander, one Swede, several Australians, South Africans, Americans and Canadians, and three New Zealanders. It was amazing how strong the feeling of fellowship was. One cannot estimate the value of such intercourse between graduates of all nations of the world.”
