Advice has been received by Mr. J. C. Rolleston, M.P., from the Minister of Education, the Hon. R. A. Wrighi, notifying his approval of a grant for an additional room at the Fio Pio Consolidated School. The addition will be fitted out as a science room. The monthly meeting of the IVairere Power Board was held at Pio Pio on Friday. 3lr. E. Tolme presided, and there were also present: Messrs. G. F. Nelson, C. K. Wilson. R- Boddyand F. R. Harvey, engineer-mar. . The engineer said that the Mokaoiti Road extension had been expedited in order that the farmers on this roit* should have the benefit of the pone for the present milking season. Tb* line was connected on September 1 The chairman reported on hi* attendance at the recent conference be’id at Taumarunui, when the King Country Advancement League was formed There was a representative attendance of local body members from district* over 150 miles apart, said the charman. The objects of the league wc re well worth supporting. Regarding the Mokauiti extension. the chairman stated that the residents were enthusiastic over the advent of electricity in this district of practically 16,000 acres, on which resided M settlers. The engineer was congratulated od the. prompt manner in which he had effected repairs to the plant, after the breakdown due to the storm. * * * As the result of an exceptionally high tide the approach to the Public Works bridge at Kiritehere has beeen washed out and the stone protectionwall demolished. This will seriousb affect traffic in the district.
