Pereival Spencer, son of the famous balloonist, Captain Harry Spencer, ascended at a charity carnival at Rugby, at the close of a thanksgiving' service. The balloon suddenly dropped on the roof of a Rugby schoolmaster's house. Pereival huug on to the roof desperately, until he was rescued bv means of a ladder. His father ascended the roof to disentangle the balloon and collapsed, being probably overcome by the gas. He dropped 50 feet on to his head, and was killed instantly in the sight of a large crowd. Ambulance men and policemen rushed to the house wall and vainly attempted to break his fall.
