FIRE AT NORTHCOTE

HOUSE AND FURNITURE DESTROYED About four o'clock yesterday afternoon a six-roomed hones at the corner of Queen and King Streets, Xorthcote, was completely destroyed by Are. Almost all the furniture was destroyed also. The house was owned and occupied by Mr. J. H. Davies, who was away, with his wife, in the city at the time of the fire. When the fire was discovered it had a good hold and the interior was burning fiercely, the flames being fanned by a strong south-westerly gale. The fire brigade did excellent work in confining the tire to one building.
