ESTATE OF £74,349
LATE MR. H. E. PRATTEN MINISTER OF TRADE'S DEATH The New South Wales estate of the late Mr. Herbert Edward Pratten, Minister of Trade and Customs in the Commonwealth Government, who died on May 7, has, for probate purposes, been valued at £74,349. Testator bequeathed £I,OOO to the poor and deserving people of Staple Hill, Dowend, and Fish Ponds, in the County of Gloucester, England, where he lived during his boyhood; £2,000 to his trustees for the relief and support of poor women and children of New South Wales; £2,000 to the Ashfield Municipal Council, the income of which was to be paid to the body controlling Pratten Park, and a similar sum, to he called “The Pratten Trust,” to the said council in trust to pay the income to the Ashfield District Benevolent Society.
Among other bequests were a legacy of £3OO to his widow, £I,OOO to his grandchild, Peggy Christian, £I,OOO to his niece, Peggy Pratten, £2,000 to his daughter, Grace Enid Pratten, £2OO to his gardener, W. J. Nelsoil, an annuity of £2 10s a week to Adelaide D. Pinkerton in recognition of services to his children, £576 to his cousin, G. Tyler, and gifts ranging from £IOO to £250 to employees of Pratten Bros., Ltd. The income from the residuary estate was to be paid to testator’s widow during her life; after her death the estate was to he divided among his children in equal shares.
