AMATEUR ATHLETICS

THE AKARANA CLUB The annual meeting of the Akarana Amateur Cycle and Athletic Club was held at the Trades Hall, Hobson Street, on Thursday. Cucksey, N. Culpan, F. Ellis, H. Frost, R. Laidlaw, C. A. Snedden, J. Collett. F. Ballin, Eliot Davis, J. Russell, W. J. Rainger, H. R. MacKenzie; liandicapper, Mr. Wm. Morton; committee, Messrs. R. Cole, P. Hayward, <D. Jones, W. Hooker, G. W. Gilchrist, C. J. Elliott, R. Phillips, A. R. Elliott; secretary, Air. R. Phillips; treasurer and assistant secretary, Mr. A. It. Elliott; delegates to Auckland Centre, Messrs. W. Hooker and R. Phillips. The activities of the club will commence on Labour Day, when a large programme of cycling and athletic events will be conducted on behalf of the Labour Day Celebration Commit- ; tee. A committee was appointed to draw up a programme for these sports and full particulars will be published in this paper at an early date.
