CHILDREN’S DANCE
FANCY DRESS FUNCTION A very successful children's fancy dress dance, organised by the Sunday school teachers, was held in St. George’s Hall, Kingsland, on Tuesday evening. The hall was filled with children, who in their fancy dress made a gay scene. The judges, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Beck, and Mrs. Mcl.achl.an, had a difficult task in finding the winners. The awards were as follow: Girls under 10—Prettiest dress, Ngaire Wells, as fan; most original, Joan Wells, as powder puff; best poster, Rera Mackie, as kodak. Girls over 10 —Prettiest dress, Valma Mens as sunbeam; most original, Noeline Hill, as telephone girl; best poster, Ngaire Mackie, as “For the Term of His Natural Life.’’ Boys under 10—Best carried out dress, Seymour Wells, as Roman soldier; most original, Edward Nolan, as carpenter; special, Fred Legge, as Spanish b 05% Boys over 10—Best carried out dress, Athol Poole as Cailiff of Bagdad; most original, Charlie Maxted, as “Safety First”; best poster. Jack Hill, as Sylvia Starch. Most comic boy, James Warren, as teddy bear. Best dressed girl, Betty Wilson, as powder puff. Special prizes were also awarded to Betty Nicholson as Cupid; Joyce Fuller, as fairy; Alma Dare, as Little 80-Peep; Joan Lovell, as kewpieDorothy Katipa, as Charlie Chaplin; Merle Murray, as salad.
