LYRIC AND EMBASSY
“THE SILVER SLAVE” An unusual story of a mother who flirted with her daughter’s sweethearts, entitled “The Silver Slave.” will be shown this evening at the Lyric and Embassy Theatres. Irene Rich gives a remarkably fine performance as the woman whose husband deserted her. leaving her with a baby daughter, millions, and a will which provided that she be left penniless, should she marry again. The youth she has really loved had gone his way and the passing years bring her daughter to womanhood. The doubtfully benficial “silver” has given Janet all the advantages of finishing schools and modernising methods and her mother is horrified to see her casting longing eys at a rich man-about-town. while her worthy and hard-working childhood sweetheart is cast by the board. A second attraction is also oeing shown at both theatres, an Englisn production entitled “Sea Urchin,” with the popular actress Betty Balfour in the leading role.
