HIS MAJESTY’S
“THE LAUGHING OPTIMIST” Those who have an appetite for good wholesome comedy, and a wish to get away from the drama of problems, will find something to their taste in “The Laughing Optimist,” now in season at His Majesty’s Theatre. It is a play with tonic qualities, and sends the audience from the theatre in a quiet simmer of good humour. The “optimist” is Jerry Hayward, whose character is interpreted adequately by Percy Hutchison. Jerry goes through life refusing to recognise setbacks of any sorts, and nothing seems able to quench his enthusiasm for living. Frances Dillon, who has a difficult and somewhat unpleasant part to play, gets through her work with conviction. Stella Francis and E. Rayson-Cousens both do a big share toward making the show a success. “The Laughing Optimist” will be presented again to-night.
