BANKRUPT SERVICE OWNER
UNSUITABLE MOTOR-CARS EXPENSIVE AUCKLAND RUN (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAAIILTON, Friday. Attributing liis failure to the fact that representations regarding the suitability of cars sold to him for service work were not borne out, Robert Henry Hampton, of Frankton, faced the official assignee, Mr. J. H. Robertson, to-day. Bankrupt, in his statement, said he started business as a taxi proprietor and did well up to the end of October, 1927. Up to that time his cars were free. Later he decided to start a service between Hamilton and Auckland and bought a new car to run on this service. The cars were unsuitable for the work and he had to meet heavy repair bills. The Auckland run had proved a lamentable failure and he did not consider anyone could make a success of it on a fare from 12s 6d to 15s a head. The meeting was adjourned to allow bankrupt to draw up a statement of his weekly receipts and expenditure in connection with the Auckland-Hamil-ton service.
