IMPUDENT THEFT
SUITCASE STOLEN FROM CARRIAGE
An impudent theft occurred at the Auckland Railway Station on Thursday evening. A man walked into a carriage, picked up a suitcase and walked off again. The owner of the case passed the thief on the platform as he was making away with her property. A man and his wife who were travelling to Frankton Junction on the second express on Thursday evening had placed their suitcases on their seats. They then decided to go to a nearby stall and purchase some fruit. On the way back to their carriage they passed a man carrying a suitcase. “That looks like my bag,” exclaimed the woman as she passed the man. “Oh, there may be two alike,” replied her husband. But when the man and his wife returned to their seats they found that one of their suitcases was missing. The police were informed but by that time the thief had disappeared from the station into Queen Street.
