Onehunga May Lose City Tram Service
COUNCILLOR’S MOVE
LEGAL ADVICE WANTED
From a notice of motion to come before the Onehunga Borough Council at its next meeting, it is likely that definite steps will be taken toward a discontinuation of
the tram service to Onehunga. The town clerk of the Onehunga Council has been notified by Cr. F. S. Morton of his intention to bring forward a motion on the subject at next meeting. The notice of motion says that in view of the fact that the Auckland City Tramways Department saw fit tc curtail the transport service for Onehunga people without consulting the Onehunga Borough Council, in contravention of the terms of the deed of delegation, and, further, that the department had failed to provide an adequate or reasonable service to Onehunga, the borough solicitor should be instructed to advise the council of legal steps to be taken to compel the department to remove trams from the Onehunga service, and the tram rails from the borough.
