Grammar Association Holds Gay Function
BRIGHT DECORATIONS The annual dance held by the Grammar Schools’ Old Boys and Old Girls’ Associations proved a very bright and successful function last evening, when a host of beautifully gowned dancers made merry at Dixieland. Softly ‘shaded lights and attractive decorations made a charming setting for the dancers. The Dixieland Orchestra Avas in its usual good form, and dispensed the newest dance music in its own cheery fashion. During the evening Miss Yvonne Arlen and Mr. Colin Shorter gave an exhibition tango, in costume, and for an encore number gave the Yale Blues. The guests were received by Mr. Allan St. Clair Brown, Mrs. \V. H. Morpeth, (Miss MacDonald being unavoidably absent), and Miss Helen YV llson. Miss Morpeth’s gown was of black georgette and lace, embroidered with sequins. Miss Helen Wilson wore duchess blue crepe de chine embossed with silver thread. Mrs. W. J. Biggs, black ring velvet gown, embroidered with silver sequins. Mrs. C. F. Otter, gown of deep cream and silver brocaded metal cloth. Miss Biddy Philcox, leaf gren taffeta frock, with embroidered net inset into the back of the close-fitting bodice. Miss Audrey Walton, frilled tulle gown in picture style of deep apricot shade. Miss Kathleen Waters, cherry georgette gown, with relief of ivory. Miss Jamieson, pastel pink georgette gown, with petal pointed uneven skirt. Miss Joyce Wright, powder blue georgette frock, with the full skirt appliqued in rose pink and silver.* Miss Bettina Edwards, black georgette frock and Eastern shawl. Miss Joan Sterling, futurist gown of ivory and leaf green taffeta. Miss Biddy Molloy. dainty frock of cuban orange georgette, appliqued with tiny silver rosebuds. Miss Marjorie Woolley, ivory satin gown. Avith overskirt of ivory tulle, frilled. Miss Marjorie Blakey, delphinium blue georgette frock, with relief of silver. Miss Oona Grattan, chiffon velvet gown of black, with scarlet shoulder spray of roses. Miss Audrey Peery, picture frock of wedgwood blue taffeta, with deep hem of gold lace. Miss' Margaret Young, flame taffeta gown, bouffant fashion, with long uneven hem. Miss Jessie Lamb, period gown of hyacinth blue chiffon A’elA-et. Miss Phinps, period gown of cedar rose taffeta and gold lace. Miss OliA'e Chiplin; petal painted georgette frock of cherry, with diamante girdle.
