Farmers’ butter in the Marts is in short supply and sells at 1s 4d to 1s 6d. First grade factory butter in the shops sells for cash at 1s 9d a lb; second grade, 1s 8d a lb. In the shops, for cash, sirloin fetches 10d a lb; prime ribs, 7d a lb; corned round, 8d a lb; beefsteak, 7d a lb; rump steak, 1s 2d a lb; gravy beef, 6d a lb; and whole loins, 9Jd a lb. Vegetable marrows, in the markets, sell at 4d to 8d each; cabbages, 1s 6d to 3s 6d a dozen; cauliflowers, 1d to 4d each; celery, 5d to 7d a bundle; rhubarb, 4d to 6d a bundle; spinach, 6d to 1s 6d a dozen bundles; pumpkins, 1s to 3s 6d each; spring onions, 3d to 7d a bundle; radish. 6d a dozen bundles; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 9d to 1s 6d a dozen bundles; and leeks, 3d and 4d a bundle.
