THE SUBURBS SEAT
Sir,— In the course of a brief preliminary speech at Glen Eden, Sir .Tames Gunson said he did not resent Miss Melville’s candidature for Eden in the by-elec-tion, as -she had as much right to contest the seat as he had, and that he would assist as far as he could to secure her return for Roskiil. These fair-minded remarks were loudly applauded. As Miss Melville had some two thousand supporters in the late Eden electorate, Sir James’s attitude in this respect should do as much as anything else that could be said or done toward his success for Suburbs.
