' ENJOYABLE PROGRAMME
A very bright affair was the “At Home” given by th© Puccini Amateur Musical Society in St. Benedict’s Hall last evening. The decorative scheme was effectively carried out with streamers of red, white and green, the colours of the club, and multi-col-oured lighting effects. Occupying a prominent position in the centre of the stage was a large red and white swastika, the emblem adopted by the society, while surrounding it were bowls of graceful arum lilies. The supper tables were gay with spring flowers. An excellent musical programme had been arranged and included items by Mrs. J. M. McDonald, Miss Cecilia Duncan, and Messrs. J. McDonald, Gracie, Martin and James. The Puccini Dance Orchestra, under the leadership of Miss E. Ironside, was in the best of form. Among those present were: Mrs. Bell, Viennese blue frock of crepe de chine, with silver lace. Mrs. J. Herbert, black frock of satin du soir, faced with fleur de lys grey georgette. Mrs. Tyson, frock of tango taffeta and gold lace, with silver posies. Mrs. W. A. Jackson, lotus pink sequinned georgette frock, with rainbow tulle. Mrs. J. H. McDonald, sea foam green frock of ring velvet and lace, with gold lame, and shawl. Mrs. Gibson, frock of cyclamen georgette, with silver lace. Mrs. Ryan, black frock of crepe alonza, with amethyst relief. Mrs. P. Monnock, graceful frock of cherry crepe de chine. Miss Edna Herbert, black frock of ring velvet, encrusted with rhinestone motifs. Miss S. Spring, frock of geranium crepe faille, with petals of pastel toning. Miss Esme Tierney, Valencia blue frock of ring velvet, with raised oriental motifs. Miss Evelyn Ironside, mignonette green frock of georgette and lame, with black velvet posies. Miss Nola Mowlem. frock of silver tissue, with skirt of claret red chiffon. Miss Bremer, ivory frock of crepe faconnne, with silver lace and coral pink shawl. Miss Doris Jenkins, silver lame frock, with diamante, and shawl. Miss Grace Ross, sequinned frock of foxglove georgette and gold lace, with shawl. Miss Isa Munro, pompadour pink frock of chiffon, with crystal headings. Miss Ethelwyn Alexander, topaz chiffon frock, with motifs of pearl headings. Miss F. E. Grounds, black frock of satin beaute, with appliqued oriental designs. Miss A. Bond, leaf green crepe de chine frock. Miss Lily Ryan, moonlight blue frock, with facings of pervanche georgette. Miss Hazel Lunny, pastel pink georgette. and silver lace worn over rose du bois ’ satin. Miss Mavis Monnock, gold lace worn over crocus pink satin, with shawl. Miss Diprock, frock of black and jade green brocaded velvet. Miss Welcome Holdsworth. black period frock of taffeta, with diamante. Miss B. Crosby, eau de nil frock of crepe alonza and georgette. Miss Rita Madden, black frock of satin faconne, beaded with pearls. Miss M. Berry, nioonmist blue frock of georgette, with eeinture of diamante. Miss Pearl Berry, rose du barri frock of lace, worn over crepe de chine, Miss Pat Sheehan, dawn pink georgette, with paris tinted lace, and shawl. Miss I. Beeston, pomegranate satin and georgette frock, with diamante. Miss Adele Connolly, floral frock of palm forest green georgette. Miss IT. Crowtlier, dainty frock of petailed lime georgette. Miss Lassie Hoey, hyacinth blue frock of crepe de chine and silver. Miss Len Tonks, frock of sunkist pink ring velvet, with eeinture of gold lame roses. Miss Cecilia Duncan. Chantilly lace and georgette frock, with touches of apricot, and shawl. Miss D. Cousins, frock of black chiffon, heavily beaded with scarlet, and shawl. Miss Vicla Mortimer, frock of vellum tinted lace worn over crepe de chine, with fluted panels of georgette. Miss Rout, Venetian blue shot taffeta frock.
