LYRIC AND EMBASSY
“THE SILVER SLAVE” “The Silver Slave,” starring Irene Rich, is the main pictorial attraction at the Lyric Theatre this evening. This is a comedy-drama of modern life, a romance portraying the conflict between a mother and her daughter in the affairs of the heart. It was only after her mother had won away from her all suitors of money and years, that the chagrined daughter discovered that her mother had done it with the sole idea of saving her from becoming another “silver slave.” Irent Rich has never been so wistfully appealing as in this play, and the daughter is played by the beautiful Audrey Ferris, one of the younger Hollywood finds. The cast includes Holmes Herbert as the banished lover of the mother’s youth, and John Miljan, who plays a rich young man-about-town, who is amazed to find that the older woman’s love is fictitious. Carrol Nye acts delightfully as the young lover, who finally winsthe flapper. “The Sea Urchin,” a delightful picture with the popular yodng English actress, Betty Balfour, in the leading role, w'ill also be shown.
