“MUDDLE AND MYSTERY”
ANGLO-FRENCH AGREEMENT COMMAND OF THE ATLANTIC (United P.A. —By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z Press Association) LONDON, Tuesday. “The Anglo-French naval agreement is at present both a muddle and a mystery, says the ‘Daily Express.’ America believes the Frenc h and Britj ish navies will virtually become one and will be pooled so that Britain may command the Atlantic; and that (in return special concessions are to be made to France in the Mediterranean. “Germany believes that the security against French aggression, hitherto givjen by Britain, has almost vanished and that Britain will allow France to omit reservists when publishing statements as to her armed forces.
“Italy believes that France will be allowed to build as many submarines as she can release in the Mediterranean.
“These are the disagreeable results of the ‘hnish-hush’ policy, says the paper. The mischief can only be undone by the publication of the text of the agreement.”
