BUILDING SOCIETY'S SUCCESS With books showing a net profit of £313 15s sd. the* Hamilton Permanent Investment and Building Society held its annual meeting on Monday evening. The Mayor, Mr. J. R. Fow, presided. Reviewing the operations of the past year, the chairman stated that, after placing £lO 16s Id to the reserve account, £302 19s 4d was available for appropriation, which would allow 7 per cent, interest to be added lo investment shares and 7 per cent, dividend to be paid to capital shares. The society had started in a small way in 1923 and was now beginning to make its existence felt in the town. There were Illshareholders. The society was congratulated on its success and the report and balance sheet were adopted. The three retiring directors, Messr?. J. R. Fow, X. H. Hooker and C. Lambeth, were re-elected unopposed. Mr. T. G, Reynolds was reappointed auditor. Applications were received f or nine B investment shares for £25 and 24 capital shares for £lO.

The secretary reported that the Main Highways Board had asked the Auckland Automobile Association to suggee the order of urgency of the propose® reconstruction works on the AucklandHamilton main road. Four members of the Roads Committee of the association would confer with a committee c the Hamilton agency of the associatio® on the matter. It was decided to make an applied' tion to the Auckland Association ing that the agency should revert to ** former title of branch.
