LORNASTON TO LOAD.—The steamer Lornaston, 4,934 tons, has been chartered to load phosphates at Nauru Island for Australia or New Zealand. SUGAR FOR AUCKLAND.—Advice received from Sydney states that the steamer Danybryn, 4,453 tons, has been chartered to load sugar at Java for discharge at the Colonial Sugar Refining Comapny’s works at Chelsea. CUMBERLAND AT LONDON.—The New Zealand Shipping Company has been notified by cable that the Federal steamer Cumberland arrived at London on Friday from Wellington, en route to Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. The vessel left Wellington on July 24.

PORT BOWEN AT WANGANUI. —The C. and D. Line’s steamer Port Bowen returned to Wanganui this morning from Wellington to complete her loading. It is hoped to dispatch her finally from Wanganui to-morrow for London and West of England ports, via Panama.

BENTON BAR-BOUND.—The steamer Benton was bar-bound outside Westport yesterday. The vessel unloaded phosphates from Ocean Island at Auckland and then left for Westport to bunker before proceeding to Nauru Island to load another phosphates cargo for Auckland. R EMU ERA AT LYTTELTON.—Now loading at Lyttelton, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera later proceeds to Wellington, thence Auckland, to fill up for Home. She is due here next Monday and is scheduled to sail finally from this port on September 15 for Southampton and London, via Panama. MAHANA TO COMPLETE.—Due at Auckland to-morrow morning from Waikokopu, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahana will berth at the Queen’s Wharf to complete her loading under the auspices of A. S. Patesson and Company. She is to clear Auckland finally next Saturday for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. PHOSPHATES FROM RED SEA.— Henderson and Macfarlane, Limited, have received advice that the steamer is expected to reawh Auckland about September 15 with a full cargo of Red Sea phosphates. After discharge the vessel is to load raw sugar at Fiji for the United Kingdom. RUAHINE COMING.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Ruahine-sailed from Southampton yesterday for Wellington and Lyttelton via Madeira and Panama. She is under the command of Captain Urquhart, and is expected to arrive in New Zealand on October 10. * CANADIAN TRANSPORTER DUE.— Although not yet reported by wireless, the Canadian National Steamships steamer Canadian Transporter is expected to arrive at Auckland on September 7 from Montreal with a cargo of general merchandise for discharge at Auckland and Southern ports. CORINTHIC'S LOADING PROGRAMME. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the White Star liner Corinthic, now loading at Lyttelton, later proceeds' to Timaru. thence Wellington, to complete, and is scheduled to clear the latter port finally on September 26 for Southampton and London, via Panama. HALERIC SHORT OF COAL.—The Bank Line steamer Haleric has reported by wireless that she will arrive at Auckland to-morrow evening to replenish her bunkers. The vessel is en route from Makatea Island to Australia. She will bunker from a hulk In the stream and probably resume her voyage on Friday afternoon. Spedding, Ltd., are the local agents. MAR AM A AND MAHENO The Union Company’s intercolonial passenger steamers Marama and Maheno reached Sydney yesterday morning from Wellington and Auckland respectively, the Marama at five o’clock, and the Maheno two hours later. On Friday the Marama is to leave Sydney for Auckland and the Maheno for Wellington. Tn.ey are due in New Zealand next Tuesday. SPIN ANGER WITH OlL.—The local office of the Atlantic Union Oil Company has received advice that the Norwegian tanker Spinanger, which left San Pedro on August 3, will unload a quantity of the cargo at Sydney and Melbourne and will then come to Auckland to continue unloading. The remainder of the cargo is for Wellington. The vessel is expected to reach Auckland about September 18. CITY OF BATAVIA ARRIVES.—Under charter to the American and Australian Line, the Ellerman-Bucknall steamer City of Batavia arrived in the stream at Auckland at seven o’clock this morning, and later berthed at Prince’s Wharf. The vessel, which arrived at Auckland last on September 16, 1927, sailed from New York on August 1, and on August S arrived at Colon after a fair weather passage down the coast. She cleared Balboa the following day, and good weather continued right across the Pacific till the vessel was two days out from Auckland. She then encountered northerly winds and heavy rain. Captain H. E. Nancollas retains command of the City of Batavia, and associated with him are the following officers: Chief, Mr. W. A. Clingly; second, Mr. Goodey: third, Mr. Wheeler; chief engineer, Mr. T. Terris; second, Mr. Brown: third, Mr. J. M. Mitchell; fourth. Mr. Willet; fifth, Mr. Carlisle; chief steward, Mr. Manning; wireless operator, Mr. W. H. Goldsworth; apprentices, Messrs. Allan and Newlands. The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the City of Batavia is to be dispatched from Auckland on Friday evening next for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete the discharge of her case oil and general merchandise cargo.

PORT OF ONEHUNGA—ARRIVALS TO-DAY HAUTURU (7 a.m.), 270 tons. Robinson, from Hokianga. RARAWA (7.45 a.m.), 1,077 tons, Bark, from New Plymouth. The Hauturu, which arrived at Onehunga this morning from Hokianga, sails again at 3 p.m. to-morrow on the return trip. The Rarawa arrived this morning from New Plymouth. She sails at 3.30 p.m. to-morrow on the return trip. The Arapawa is due at Onehunga at 6 o’clock to-morrow morning from Rnglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato. She sails again at 3 p.m. the same day for Wanganui. The Anchor steamer Kaitoa is due at Onehunga on Frid.yy next to load for Nelson and West Coast ports.
