ENJOYABLE CONCERT An entertaining programme was submitted by the Aeolian Orchestra at its third concert of the season, presented at the Concert Chamber last evening. The programme was of an interesting nature, and pleasingly varied. Outstanding performances were the overture to Schubert’s “Rosamunde.” a selection from German’s “Merrie England" and Saint-Saen’s “Suite Algerienne." Other enjoyable items by the orchestra were: Uugini’s “Egyptian Ballet,” “A Celtic Idyll,” by Hart, Horne’s march, Prelude Xo. 2. “Merchant of Venice” suite. “Two Hindu Pictures” (Hansen and letter), and a selection of Irish airs, “The Shamrock,” by Myddleton. Under the direction of Mr W. Edgar Webb, the orchestra showed good control. Mr. E. M. Price gave able assistance as leader. Two enjoyable soprano solos. “One Fine Day,” from .Puccini's ‘‘Madame Butterfly,” and Dell Acqua’s “The Stars are Falling,” were contributed by Miss Christina Ormiston. The other soloist, Mr. Norman Tucker. sang “Muleteer of Malagar” (Trotere) and “Nirvana” (Adams). Both vocalists were warmly recalled. Mrs. Barclay acted as accompanist.
