RIALTO AND REGENT EPSOM
“THE ROUGH RIDERS” “The Rough Riders,” a story revolving around Roosevelt’s famous regiment in the Spanish-American War, will be shown this evening at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres. The central characters are a girl. Mary. and Stewart Van Brunt and Bert Henley, two of the Rough Riders. A friendship of the same girl develops between the boys, who are sworn enemies. Bert, a friend of Mary’s' from childhood, has almost persuaded her to marry him, when Stewart puts in an appearance. Ruthlessly the less aggressive lover, Bert, is pushed aside, and Mary feels that she loves Stewart. Bert feels that something has come between them. In a scene that follows, the camp and Roosevelt are involved. Finally they ship for Cuba, and Bert is afraid of the fighting. Sent to the rear with wounded by a sergeant, the words of a dying soldier spur him to bravery. “If Youth But Knew." which will r.leo be shown, is a picture based on the famous play, starring Lillian Hall Davis.
