Spriggs Mrs. Scales is to be congratulated on her production of ‘‘The Pirate's Daughter,” and the Milford Amateur Operatic Society on its serious efforts. The story is a delightful one, and the musical numbers have a lilt that is most refreshing. The opening scene. Mrs. Van Der Meer’s house party on the Hudson River, was a fit setting for the events which were to follow. A mysterious Hindu suddenly sends the members of the party to sleep. They wake to find themselves 300 years old, back in the days of pirates, hidden gold and stolen treasure. The pirates are in Holland and the house party finds adventure and melody pleasantly combined. The plasters filled their parts most agreeably', particularly Miss K. Conway, who sings and acts with grace and charm. Mr. Burke was happilycast. The other members of the company gave excellent support. Mr. W. Armitage acted as gtage manager, and an orchestra consisting Mrs. H. Edmonds, Messrs. T. Nathan, Harry Kingsford, A. Chubb and Blcmfield contributed much to the success
