UNLICENSED BUS

BT-LAW HELD TO BE BAD (From Our Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Monday. The by-law of the Hikurang-i Town Board which requires a licence fee of £lO to be paid on motor buses running in the district was held to be ultra vires by Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Court today. The Northern Motor Bus Company was charged at Whangarei to-day with plying for hire with an unlicensed bus on occasions when their licensed buses were unable to cope with the traffic. The magistrate dismissed the charge.
