“When sober this man is a good, gentlemanly citizen, but when drunk he is* irresponsible,” said Constable Thompson in the Marton Police this morning, when James Garfield Simpson, a well-known stock agent, was 1 charged with being drunk in charge of a motor-car. He had had many chances and the Bench inflicted a fine of £5, in default 14 days’ imprisonment, and suspended his licence for six months and issued a prohibition order. —P-A,
