VOTE-SPLITTING IN RAGLAN mr. j. h. McKinnon to STAND (From Our Oxen Correspondent.) HUNTLY, Monday. Mr. John Malcolm McKinnon, farmer* of Ohinewai, announced his intention to-day of definitely going to the poll at the general election and contesting the Raglan seat as a Independent Reformer. A son of the late Mr. Angus McKinnon, a well-known farmer in the Ohinewai district for many years, he was born in Auckland 46 years ago, has lived at Ohinewai for 40 years and is a practical farmer of good address and ability. “Measures and not party,” is Mr. J. M. McKinnon’s slogan, and the candidate is assured of good support from the mining town, where the name of McKinnon is held in the highest respect. Mr. McKinnon is also a nephew of the late Mr. Donald McKinnon, of whom it often said he was the straightest man that ever raced a thoroughbred.
