HOPPER WAGONS WANTED

WHANGAREI COAL TRANSPORT (From Our Oicn Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, To-day. The Whangarei Borough Council resolved last evening to send an urgent telegram to the Prime Minister and the Railway Department supporting the request of the Harbour Board delegation from Whangarei which was urging that the North Auckland line should be supplied with modern hopper wagons for coal transport. The Mayor, Mr. L. J. Brake, said that strong representations had been made over the signature of the local bodies and a telegram of reminder would be as effective as sending a delegate, who could only repeat what had already been said. He thought that public bodies should be spared these expensive delegations.
