RETICULATION OF BROWN’S BAY
WAITEMATA BOARD’S WORK
“During the past few weeks, work has been carried out completing the reticulation of side roads at Brown’s Bay,” reported Mr. P. J. H. Wilson, resident engineer to the Waitemata Electric-Power Board, at this morning’s meeting.
Mr. Wilson said that at the North Shore was steady. and there was no abatement in. the high rate of service connections. The Greenhithe extension will be begun shortly.
On the West Coast road a further stretch of 11,000-volt line has been livened. The further extension of the Oratia line is in hand.
In accordance with the Public Works Department’s requirelnents, winter tests of transformer earth resistances have been made, and' have been completed in the country. There have been reinspections of old Installations at Devonport. Calls for inspectors and troublemen during July were dealt with as* under: Devonport depot, 272; Takapuna, 241; Henderson, 183 and Helensville, 79. Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman, drew attention to the increasing number of service calls, and said that consumers availed themselves of the board’s work bureau to a considerable extent. During August there were 109 new connections and the total now stands at 6,015. Trading department returns showed that sales during the month were £731 10s. The number of ranges in service has more than doubled in the past year, and there are now 503.
