GIRL GUIDES’ BAZAAR
AFTERNOON AT TAKAPUNA Yesterday afternoon a bazaar was held at Froxfield, the home of Captain and Mrs. Atwood, at Takapuna, in aid of the Milford Troop of Girl Guides. Stalls were arranged on the verandahs and tea was served in the lounge. During the afternoon the Guides gave a play entitled, “Guides to the Rescue,” which was staged on the lawn and enjoyed by everybody. Those in charge of the stalls were: Produce, Mrs. Christenson ancl Guides work stall, Mrs. Gillett and Mrs. Kingsford; sweets, Rieutenant M. Christenson and Guides; fish pond. Captain E. D’Esterre and helpers; afternoon tea, Mrs. Atwood, Mrs. Kensington and Mrs. Jenkyns. “WELCOME HOME” PARTY A pleasant surprise party was given to Mr. and Mrs. Johnston, of Horo-t-utu Road, One Tree Hill, on Thursday evening, to welcome home their nephew, Mr. Reg. Connolly, who has just returned from Fanning- Island. Games were played and there was dancing in the intervals, while songs and recitations were given by Miss Thelma Duffln, Miss Peggy Cutting, and Mr. Caisley. Mrs. Johnston wore a frock of navy georgette and ecru lace; Miss Tui Johnston, flame sequinned georgette; Miss Claire Johnston, buttercup georgette with frilled skirt; Miss Maisie Johnston, gold satin with georgete frills. Others present included Misses Nancy Connolly, Alison Johnston, Thelma Duffln, Vera Derham, Nenc Jowitt, Zeta Derham, Jean Mclntosh, Peggv Cutting Lesley Mulgan, “Mick” Caldow, Mar-’ jorie Graham and Ruth Williams.
