The effects of thl bites of the ordinary mosquito wen bad enough to justify efforts at termination, but the existence of dan gerous malaria-bearing insects made such efforts doubly necessary. Muc! could be done by the introduction of larvae-eating minnows and the use o' petroleum, with attention to unsani tary, low-lying or rubbish-littered areas.

Mr. Samuel hoped that if the Auckland mosquito research committee applied for funds it would be met by th Health Department. Further, he sue gested that legislation b© provided tc empower local bodies to clean out mosquito-bearing areas.
