DORCAS SOCIETY MEETS
LAST YEAR’S FINE WORK The Auckland Dorcas Society held its annual concert in the Orange Hall last evening. Sir George Fowlds, who presided, read the .report of last year’s work, which showed that help had been given to 564 families and that £504 12s 8d had been used in providing groceries, doctors’ fees, medicine and rent. The society had also supplied 387 new garments and 907 used ones, and 459 yards of material to those able to make their own clothes, as well as 40 hats, S 3 pair of shoes, bedding, furniture, blankets and quilts. The society expressed its indebtedness to Mrs. Murphy, who has worked so hard in helping those in distress owing to sickness, unemployment or mis managem en t.
