MAJESTIC

“A THIEF IN THE DARK” The popular programme at the Majestic Theatre will have its final presentation at that theatre to-morrow evening. The programme is headed by “A Thief in the Dark,” the most thrilling mystery play of the year, featuring Marjorie Beebe and George Meeker. * The action of the picture mingles the sawdust atmosphere of a circus with the rich settings in and around a pretentious mansion-house of mystery. An interesting Majestic News, a screamingly funny comedy, “The Finishing Touch,” with Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, an amusing Aesop Fable cartoon, and an interesting film, “A Trip to the Auckland Zoo,” composes the supporting programme. A notable musical programme is presented by Mr. Whiteford Waugh and his talented Majestic Orchestra. Musical gems from famous composers, and from popular jazz numbers are included in the incidental music. This talented combination features as the overture, “Ruy Bias” (Mendelssohn). In the evening little Koanui, a veritable child wonder, is appearing on the stage. This tiny tot presents several popular song numbers, including “Oh, Papa,” and “Oh, Doris,” together with a charming little dance. It is hard to believe that the little artist is only four years of age, so clear is her speech and sweet her voice. To-morrow afternoon will see the final presentation of the gorgeous pantomime which has been enchanting many thousands of Auckland children and grown-up children, too, during the past few weeks. So great a success was “Cinderella” that Miss Lillian O’Leary produced another spectacular pantomime, “Cinderella’s Honeymoon.” A full supporting pictorial programme is also screened, composed of the Majestic News, a comedy, a cartoon, and “A Thief in the Dark,” the chief pictorial attraction. On Friday at the Majestic those two inimitable comedians, Sammy Cohen and Ted McNamara, are coming in “Why Sailors Go Wrong.”
