CONTROL OF MILK
DISTRIBUTING SUPPLIES PROPOSED REORGANISATION Subsequent to the recent failure of the Auckland Whole Milk Producers’ Association and the Auckland Milk Vendors’ Association to come to an agreement regarding the basis of the wholesale price of milk during the coming season, the former organisation has been actively engaged in investigating the possibility of acquiring* control of the milk distribution throughout the city and also of reorganisation. A special committee which has been set up to deal with the proposal met yesterday and afterwards Mr. H. C. Bull, president of the association, said the committee was determined to do its utmost to effect thfe economic saving which would be the result of the division of the city into blocks for distribution purposes and the elimination of the present competition which was considered wasteful. Some of the large distributors had signified their willingness to sell to the projected concern, but others had so far remained firm in their refusal. As the small vendors had yet to be approached the committee was not in a position to place the scheme before the City Council for its approval and support.
