VARIED PROGRAMMES AT ANNUAL FESTIVAL TO-DAY’S RESULTS Dancing, singing and instrumental and elocutionary items were pleasingly varied at the Embassy Theatre last evening when the second recall session of the Auckland Competitions was held before a large attendance. Popular features of the session were the two combined ballets. Miss McGregor’s ballet, attired in stately oldworld costumes, stepped its way d* murely through the stately measure < a, gavotte, providing a dainty contra; to the picturesque Hungarian costunu - of Miss Lilian O’Leary’s ballet, whi. ably executed a national dance. Both, efforts were warmly applauded. The impromptu speech attracted li’ ■ competitors, and a very satisfactory standard was shown. The humorous efforts of several of the competitors, judging by the merriment of the audience, were very successful. The result. which will be announced after the hearing of section B on Tuesday evening. will be awaited with interest.
