Post Office Store Razed at Panmure
EARLY MORNING FIRE flames wake occupants The general store and the post . office at Panmure, owned by the Misses Hogan, of Panmure, and occupied by Mr. G. E. Farr, were totally destroyed by fire at 3.30 a.m. to-day. Mrs. Farr was awakened by the flames leaping through the diningroom door and spreading along the Passage toward the bedroom, and lost Ao time in waking Mr. Farr and their nine-year-old son. The occupants 'vere not able to save any of their Soods or furniture. NO WATER SUPPLY The Ellerslie Fire Brigade attended, hut, as there was no water supply, Was not able to quell the flames. Arrangements have been completed to open the post office in a nearby store, and it will be in working order this afternoon Th© stock was insured in the Standard Company for £l5O, and the furniture and effects are covered by £ 300. The insurance on the building is not available. The building was old wooden structure, and the cause of the outbreak is not known.
