EVERYBODY’S
“MIDNIGHT ROSE” A story of a girl who preferred the gaiety of night life to the monotony of home is “Midnight Rose,” which will head the new programme to be shown at Everybqdy’s Theatre this evening. Lya de Putti, Europe’s most beautiful star, will be seen in the title role of “Midnight Rose.” This is a thrilling story of the old Gold Coast of San Francisco, of a cafe dancer and a reformed gangster, the former played by Miss de Putti, the latter by Kenneth Harlan. Primitive passions against a background of degrading influences makes this a powerful drama which is balanced with just the proper amount of comedy. The supporting cast of this picture is excellent with such players as Henry Kolker, Lorimer Johnston, George Larkin, “Gunboat” Smith, Wendell Franklin, and Frank Brownlee. The second attraction this evening will be a dramatic story of love and hate called “The Hawk’s Nest,” starring Milton Sills. “The Hawk’s Nest” is a story of the underworld, with most of the scenes in the Chinese quarters of a large American city. Milton Sills plays a gang leader in his usual vigorous and convincing manner. Miss Kenyon makes a charming leading lady, and will surprise her most ardent admirers in this picture.
For the first time in motion picture history <i popular story will be seen by the public before the stage version is produced. “Show Girl,” the brilliant novel now appearing in the famous Liberty Magazine, will be released by First National Pictures as a vehicle for the vivacious Alice White, who is scheduled for stardom in 1928. This should prove an ideal first starring production for Miss White, her particularly vivid style being well suited to the principal feminine role. This dainty actress is very like Clara Bow, but with a distinct personality that is quite individual. Other productions to follow will be “On The Air,” “Rosie of the Ritz” and “Bluffers.”
