SIX DIE IN FLAMES

MOTOR-BUS TAKES FIRE MINNEAPOLIS TRAGEDY (United, P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) NEW YORK, Tuesday. A report from Minneapolis says six People were burned to death when a high-speed motor-bus bound for Chicago with 10 passengers plunged into a ditch and caught fire. The bus was turning a corner when it collided with a truck. Fed by the fuel from the broken petrol tank the flames enveloped the victims. Even chemical extinguishers operated by firemen failed against the gasfed flames. Walter Pickard, a pugilist, saved two of the passengers by pulling them through a window, though he had sustained a broken arm. Several of the victims were knocked unconscious by the collision. They could be seen through the blaze sitting upright in their seats, their heads merely slumped over. It was two hours after the collision before their charred remains were removed.
