In Hospital for 6½ Years

“Oldest Inhabitant” GENEROSITY OF BOARD The “oldest inhabitant” of the Auckland Hospital, a little girl who has been a patient almost since her birth, was discharged on Saturday. She has been a' charge on the board for six and a-half years, and her indebtedness amounted to nearly £SOO. The Hospital Board, realising that her mother would have great difficulty in paying even a small portion of the fees, has remitted them. The report of the Fees Committee also stated: “A well-known footballer, who was in hospital for four months, had nis leg amputated. His mother, who is a widow, is dependent upon him and through the good offices of his sporting friends, who are looking after his family interests, your committee agreed to remit the amount of fees of approximately .CM 2 0.”
