LADIES’ ASSOCIATION THAMES VISIT DECLINED The executive of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association met last evening, Miss P. Dawson presiding. Delegates from Franklin, Rotorua, Taurangu and Waikato attended. The first round of games for the junior grade knock-out championship to be commenced at the termination ot championship games, was drawn as follows: Technical v. Papatoetoe; Y.W.C.A. B v. Papakura; Somerville v. Y.W.C.A. A; Mount Eden, a bye. Wesley, holders, remain out of the competition until the final game of the series. ? It was decided that all knock-out games should be played at Remuera. Y.W.C.A. notified its intention of visiting Rotorua on September 15. The Mount Eden Club was given permission to play two matches, a senior and a junior, on Saturday next, at Remuera, providing grounds were available. The Wesley senior team was granted permission to arrange a game with Somerville on Saturday next. A request from Arawa to play Waihi in Auckland on September 15 was passed. It was decided that the game between Arawa and Y.W.C.A. seniors should be - replayed on Saturday. It was also decided that the game between Papatoetoe and Papakura in the second round of the junior grade championship should be played at Papakura. As no team was offering to visit Thames it was decided to notify that association to this effect. The following r/gistrations were confirmed: Mount Eden seniors: Mrs. Spencer; Papatoetoe juniors, Miss M. Waters. . * Miss P. IT. Dawson was appointed delegate to attend the next meeting of the Olympic Association. The names of players belonging to Rotorua- Sub-association to represent the Auckland Province at the ‘New Zealand ladies’ hockey tournament at Timaru at the end of the month were announced as follows: Misses K. Rewiti, G. Rogers, Rangi Ratema, T. Kingi, A. Bishop, M. Duncan, M. Whata, F. Mitchell, T. Mitchell, E. Mitchell, N. Hato, M. Tauhuroa, H. Garmon sway, Mesdames Reed and Pattle; chaperon, Mrs. D. Steele.
porters were at last evening’s meeting, Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, president, being chairman. It is emphasised that the proposal now afoot is simply amr tarnation, and is not a case of “returning to the fold.”
