MISSION HALL RESTORED
WORK AT KOHIMARAMA OPENING AS MUSEUM The mission building at Kohimararna will be reopened on Sunday afternoon. This follows a period during which the historic old stone hall has been repaired and renovated. In future it will be used as a museum of Melanesian relics, curios, weapons, etc., -a fitting purpose in view of its long use as a Melanesian Mission hall. The reopening ceremony will be performed by Archbishop Averill and Bishop Steward, the retiring Bishop of Melanesia is expected to take a part. The renovation of the building has been carried out under the direction of Messrs. Jones and Palmer, architects. The cost of restoration has been largely met by public subscription, though a sum of £2OO is required yet to complete it. The collection will be housed in glass cases secured from the old museum.
